New year 2020 can be the right motivation you are looking for. It can be just another reason to give a good start to many things. When it comes to your health you should ditch all excuses and plan 2020 as a year with good health. With the coming year decide to lead a healthy life to control the risk of many diseases. Now we know making resolutions are often easier said than done, but here are some simple healthy practices which you can follow in the coming year to get you on your way to a healthier happier you:
1. Monitor your diet
What you eat affects your health in various ways. From body weight to various functions inside your body, your diet plays a major role. Eating a healthy nutritious diet is extremely important. In the coming year eat a balanced diet which includes all the necessary nutrients. It will also help you maintain a healthy weight. You will also receive all the nutrients. Mindful eating is also a healthy practice which you must follow. You can enjoy some cheat days as well but try to eat a healthy diet most of the days. Planning your meals the night before can help you make healthier decisions, rather than grabbing that easy take away the next day because you didn’t pack any lunch.
2. Ensure better sleep
A good night's sleep is very important for your health. For better mental and physical health you need the right amount of sleep. It will help you make your day more productive. Lack of sleep can result in weight gain, stress, fatigue and tiredness. Try to ensure that you get 6 – 8 hours good sleep every night. Turning off all electrical appliances and switching off from that social media feeds at least 1 hour before bed allowing you to wind down and enjoy a good night’s rest.
3. Stay stress-free
In the world today yes, this is easier said than done. But a conscious decision to try and minimise stress will allow for you to become more productive, sleep better and lose weight. Ensure that you take time in your day to exercise, take a break and reflect or meditate. Find a quiet space that allows you to just let the day melt away. All you need is 30 minutes a day where you find a quiet space all to yourself, this could be combined with exercise. Take a 30 minute walk, start practising yoga or go for a swim.
4. Do not ignore the benefits of exercise
It might be a little difficult for you to exercise regularly. Most people have too little time to exercise. But the benefits of exercising on your cardiovascular health cannot be overlooked. You do not have to spend hours at the gym and workout for hours. A simple morning walk or some warm-up exercises can give you great benefits. Regular exercise automatically reduces the risk of several diseases and helps you maintain a healthy weight. All it takes is 30 minutes a day, start by walking and before you know it you’ll be on your way to your fitness goals. One step at a time.
